We invite you to experience hours of fun and enjoyment. Start your day at any one of our quality golf courses, lure a salmon in our fresh water or just relax on our clean sandy beaches. Enjoy a hike on our many local trails and take in one of our breathtaking world famous sunsets. Ride on a miniature steam train along our waterfront while enjoying an ice cream. Have lunch on a patio or dine in one of our casual fine dining establishments. Take a guided tour to Chantry Island, where you can climb the 105 steps to the top of the lighthouse and then relax on the brief boat ride back to shore. If relaxation is your priority, sample a bandshell concert, outdoor flea market, car show, antique show, or take a trip back in time at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre. Throughout the year, facilities such as our indoor pool, new community complex and fitness centres all contribute to make us a great year round destination. Special events like our award winning premiere festival, Port Elgin Pumpkinfest, held annually the first weekend in October, offers something for everyone!  With over 45 events and activities it also featuring the largest two day car shows in Ontario. This event attracts Guinness World Record Giant vegetables of all kinds to our weigh-off competition. The festival holds something to attract and fascinate everyone. Camp at MacGregor Point Provincial Park and enjoy their annual Huron Fringe Birding Festival. Test your fishing skills at our Chantry Chinook Classic Fishing Derby or take in any of our Fireworks displays held on National Aboriginal Solidarity Day, Canada Day and Labour Day evenings. Enjoy a full weekend of Jazz at our Canadian Big Band Celebration. You can take in an art class at the Southampton Art School or a horse drawn carriage ride through Historic Southampton. Teens can ride the BMX Track near the Community Complex and adults and children can discover how clean electricity is made at the Bruce Power Visitors Centre. Play mini-golf, tennis, go rollerblading along the shore or simply relax, unwind and breathe the clean fresh air off the lake.
