Before you dig
As a Contractor or Homeowner, you are responsible for getting locates for all utilities and services before digging. These services include:
- Natural gas pipes,
- Telephone lines,
- Cable lines,
- Water and sewer pipes.
Before you call
You will need to know:
- Who is digging (for liability reasons, it is recommended that the person doing the digging submits the locate request)
- When and where you are digging (address and description of area the digging is being done in)
- The type of work being done (fence, pool, landscaping, etc.) and the method of digging that will be used whether machine and/or hand (shovel, pick, or spade)

This is a FREE 24/7 locate service called Ontario One Call. The location of the spots you should avoid are marked with specific colour codes (paint, stakes or flags), depending on the utility involved.
