Commissioner of Oaths

Contact Us

The Town of Saugeen Shores provides the services of a Commissioner of Oaths during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Commissioner is able to witness signatures of certain documents.

Please check your document to determine what type of signature is required. Some documents may require a Notary Public signature rather than a Commissioner of Oaths.

If a Commissioner of Oaths is sufficient, the Commissioner will approve the document; administer the oath; witness the signatures; and affix their stamp.

All parties required to sign the document must be present. Please be prepared to provide two pieces of photo identification.

The Commissioner of Oaths reserves the right to refuse to commission any document.

Documents not in the English language will not be commissioned as we cannot confirm the information that is being affirmed.

Please call the Municipal Office in advance to book an appointment.

Fees

The Commissioner of Oaths service fee is $21.50 per document, including HST.  Payment may be made using cash, cheque or debit.

Notary Public

Some documents require a Notary Public signature rather than a Commissioner of Oaths. The Municipal Office does not have a Notary Public on staff.

When a Notary Public is required, you may need to contact a lawyer . Not all lawyers are Notaries Public.
