Sewer Services

The Town of Saugeen Shores owns 2 sewer systems and is responsible for:

• Maintenance of the municipally owned Sanitary Sewer Collection Systems are currently operated and maintained by the Town of Saugeen Shores
• Operation of the Municipal Sewage Treatment Plants currently located in Southampton and Port Elgin are operated by O.C.W.A. under signed contract

• Preventative maintenance of the collection systems involves items as listed:

  • Maintain, operate and replace sewer services
  • Locate sewer services and mains
  • Maintain, flush and inspect sewer collection systems

We are responsible for:

• 111 km of sewer mains
• All municipal sewer laterals up to individual property lines

Homeowners are responsible for:

• Sewer lines on their property
• Cleaning sewer laterals up to the municipal boundary

Sewer and Water Billing

In the Town of Saugeen Shores, water and/or sewer bills are distributed to anyone who is using municipal services. Bills are sent out bimonthly and are based on a minimum flat rate (depending on the size of meter) plus volumetric charge based on water consumption.
