The Public Works Department of Saugeen Shores offers many road related services during the winter months.  For further information, please read our Winter Operations Plan.

Prohibited Parking

In accordance with BY-LAW 51-2013 - “No person shall park a vehicle on any highway (street) between the hours of 2:00 AM and 8:00 AM commencing November 1st and ending on March 31st, in every year.

Any vehicles obstructing traffic or interfering with snow removal operations will be issued a ticket or removed at the owner’s expense.

Placement of Snow on Municipal Right-of-Ways

Residents of the Town of Saugeen Shores are reminded that, pursuant to Section 181 of the Highway Traffic Act and Saugeen Shores By-Law 103-2008: No person shall deposit snow or ice on a roadway without permission in writing to do so from the Ministry or the Road Authority responsible for the maintenance of the road R.S.O. 1990, s 181.

Deposition of these materials on the roadway interferes with property maintenance practices. Your attention to this Act is required to assist us with keeping the roads maintained in a safe and useable condition.

Damages

Neither the Municipality, nor the Snow Plow Operators will be held financially responsible for any damages to a homeowner's property deemed to be on the Municipal road allowance when performing their daily maintenance operations. This includes, but is not limited to, damages involving fences, mailboxes, entranceways and entrance signage. There is no practical way to plow the roads without depositing snow into driveways.

Municipal staff and snow plow operators appreciate your cooperation and will continue to maintain the Municipal road system to the best of their ability.
