Council
The Town is governed by an elected Council consisting of nine members being a Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Vice Deputy Mayor elected at large, and 2 Councillors from each of the wards of Port Elgin, Saugeen Township and Southampton. Town Council and the Committee of the Whole meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 600 Tomlinson Drive, Port Elgin, unless a Resolution of Council directs otherwise. Schedule.pdf When the day for a regular Meeting of Council is a public or civic holiday, the Council meets at the same hour on the next following day that is not a public or civic holiday. If you wish to present information verbally or make a request of Council please notify the Clerk by noon on Thursday before the Council Meeting. All regular Meetings are open to the public and you are invited to attend. By-law 100-2002 governs the proceedings of Council and Committees, the conduct of its members and calling of Meetings.
