Official Plan Review

Council adopted a new Official Plan on December 2, 2012.  Here is the adopted version and its Schedules:

The County of Bruce is the Approval Authority.

The Town of Saugeen Shores' current Official Plan was adopted by Council in 2006.  Official Plans should be reviewed at least once every 5 years. Please see the link below for a description of the main goals and objectives of the Official Plan Review.

The Town believes the success of this project requires strict adherence to the Official Plan's vision and guiding principles. These are the blocks on which the Plan has been built and on which beneficial growth and development shall occur. The key blocks, as expressed in the Vision and Guiding Principles, can be expressed as follows:

• Be a leader in Bruce County in providing a place for families, retirees, culture, tourism, business and industry.

• Preserve the identity and diversity of the unique communities that form Saugeen Shores while enhancing unity.

• Ensure growth and development is accompanied by cultural, social, environmental and economic benefits; and conversely, ensure that growth and development do not compromise the heritage or physical assets of the Town.

• Promote compact development and intensification.

• Cherish the uniqueness of being a waterfront community.
