Hazardous Waste Disposal

The Bruce County Highways Department is conducting the 2010 Household Hazardous Waste Day for the residents of Bruce County.

Improper disposal of many household products in drains, sewers, backyards or landfill sites, is not only hazardous to public health but also contaminates our water supply and other natural resources.

This special event is for the handling of household hazardous waste ONLYCommercial or Industrial wastes, or volumes, will not be accepted.  Residents are also encouraged to return motor oil, paints etc., to point of purchase or recycle where possible.  Empty containers (dried up paint containers) are to be recycled or disposed of with household waste.

  • Oven Cleaners
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Drain Openers

Toxic

  • Pesticides
  • Over the counter & prescription medicines
  • Cleaners

Reactive

  • Ammonia
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Bleach
  • Florescent bulbs

Flammable

  • Oils
  • Solvents
  • Gasoline
  • Paint
  • BBQ Propane Tanks
  • Nail Polishes
  • Anti-freeze

 

Residents of Saugeen Shores are encouraged to take Household Hazardous Waste to the following location:
