Southampton Art School

The Southampton Art School is where it is ART. For over 50 years, the School has been and still is dedicated to celebrating the joy of creativity, and developing artistic talent, no matter what the age or experience. It is a nonprofit registered charitable organization charging affordable fees.

Literally thousands of people of all ages and ambitions have come to learn watercolour, oils, acrylics, pastels, printmaking, landscapes, still life, drawing, fabric art, garden sculpture, stained glass, collage, gourmet cooking, and jazz for a day, a weekend, or week, in the studio or on location.

Instructors are accomplished artists who have proven their worth as creators and teachers with a gift for passing on their knowledge, expertise and joy in their art to beginners, professionals and every stage in between.

Adults and children are encouraged to recover or rejuvenate their creativity and a surprising number of accomplished painters have re-dedicated their lives to art after attending the School.

From a few dozen students in 1957, enrolment has grown to record numbers and classes continue to run in the one-room heritage schoolhouse and in a half-dozen other facilities including a lighthouse in picturesque, perfect for painting, Southampton!
