Beaches

The enticing clean water, the fine sandy beaches and the beautiful foliage of the Bruce County Shoreline have delighted tourists, young and old alike, for more than a century. The shoreline's glittering warm water is so delightful it was thought to be medicinal in the 1920's. These wonderful waters that boast many sandbars make Saugeen Shores the ideal safe place for young children to swim. No matter what your interest, the beaches of Saugeen Shores offer a beautiful setting for hours of family fun. Clean water, fresh air, and sandy shores make it a wonderful destination for people of all ages.

Port Elgin

Port Elgin boasts 10KM of fine sandy beaches complete with a wheel chair accessible paved walkway. It is a delightful destination any time of the day for a stroll or you can wind your day down by relaxing and witnessing one of our world famous sunsets. Located on the north side of the harbour is North Shore Park, the Park is outfitted with playground equipment for the kids, picnic tables and garbage cans.

Southampton

Shipwrecks dot the lakebed in the clear waters off the coast of Southampton. Southampton is known for its beautiful and unspoiled sandy beach. The beach stretches for kilometres and is home to rare dune grass. Dune grass helps the area serve as part of the Appellation and Songbird Migration Routes. The Southampton waterfront  is home to a historic boardwalk and Pioneer Park. The beach is outfitted with many swings and a menagerie of benches; a perfect spot for young and old to enjoy the scenic view offered by the nearby Chantry Island.

Saugeen Township

For a rare piece of paradise, away from the crowds, many visitors enjoy the sandy shores of Gobles Grove, Eidt's Grove, and MacGregor Point Provincial Park. Located just outside Port Elgin at the end of the CAW Rd, Gobles Grove offers a fine sandy beach. Eidt's Grove beach, with its lovely dune area, shallow water and sandbars, is located between the Gobles Grove area and MacGregor Point Provincial Park. From Port Elgin all the way to MacGregor Point Park is a continuous sweep of glorious sandy beach. These picturesque, undeveloped beaches offer natural beauty and isolation, which make them a favorite walking route during those warm summer days and nights.
