This weekend, there will be close to 100 participants in the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club's 5th annual Sunset Competition! The age groups for this event are Juniors, ages 7-15, and Seniors, aged 16 and older.
There will be water events taking place on the Port Elgin Main Beach on Saturday from 7 am-2 pm and Sunday from 7 am-12 pm. The Port Elgin events will take place south of the Beachside Cafe between the sun shelter and Izzard Rd.

Town trees by-law informationResidents and visitors are reminded that it’s a criminal offence to cut down or in any way damage trees on Town-owned land designated as a park—including trails, parks, beaches, and waterfront, as well as road allowance. Violators could be charged with mischief.
Destroying Town trees can also result in fines under Saugeen Shores by-laws (By-law 54 - 2019, Section 1.15).

Southampton Coliseum floor pourLast week saw 30 truckloads of concrete poured on the Southampton Coliseum floor, as part of the arena renovation project. The busy crews started at 7:00 Thursday morning, finishing at 5:30 am Friday.
During the pour, two previous long-time Coliseum employees met at centre ice to each place a coin to be buried under the concrete. Harold Henry, locally known as “Hardy,” placed a coin from Southampton’s 125 th anniversary and Robert “Butch” Johnson...
