Tips for dog owners

Posted On Friday March 29, 2019

In the warm weather, many of us are likely to head outside with our dogs to enjoy the sunshine. While you are out and about, please keep the following tips in mind to help keep our community clean, safe and enjoyable for all residents (both the human and four-legged kind).

  1. Don’t forget to bring a bag and always pick up your dog’s waste.
  2. Please place your dog’s waste in garbage bins if available, or bring it home for disposal. Trees, bushes and the base of streetlights are not appropriate disposal sites.
  3. Dogs must be leashed and under control when you leave your property. If you would like to let your dog run free, please enjoy the Off-Leash Dog Park located at 961 Lehnen Street in Port Elgin.
  4. Ensure your dog is licensed and has identification tags. In the unfortunate event that your furry friend gets lost, tags will help them make their way home.
  5. Dogs are not permitted on the beach from May 1 to October 1. If you would like to bring your dog for a swim, check out the dog friendly beach options.

Thank you for following these tips and being a responsible dog owner.
