Materials from Public Information Centre - Class Environmental Assessment (Phases 1 to 4) for Increased Capacity at Southampton Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP)

Posted On Wednesday May 29, 2019

Background:

The Town of Saugeen Shores is completing a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to select an alternative to increase the capacity to accommodate existing flows, allow for existing non-serviced areas to be serviced plus future growth of the Southampton community through the next 30 years.

Process:

This Class EA process is following the planning and design process for Schedule ‘C’ projects as described in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Document (October 2000 as amended in 2007, 2011 & 2015), published by the Municipal Engineers Association.

Public Information Centre No.1:

Public consultation is a key component of this study and will assist in ensuring that members of the community and stakeholders have an opportunity to learn about the Class EA and provide input and feedback. The intent of the first Public Information Centre (PIC) was to: introduce the project; outline the scope of work and overall study process; provide the results of technical studies completed to date; and to illustrate the findings of forecasted flow rates and potential servicing populations. The Project Team has also explored alternative solutions to be carried forward into Phase 3 of the Class EA process for further evaluation.

Feedback

Consultation is vital to the success of a Class EA Study and the Town wants to ensure that anyone interested has the opportunity to get involved and provide input.  Therefore, you are encouraged to review the materials that have been posted on the Town’s website and provide your comments to the project team.
