Saugeen Shores, ON; The Town of Saugeen Shores Building Services has announced strong building statistics for 2018. Last year saw construction values in the municipality at $96,140,717, up from 2017’s $76,696,417.

“This is great news for our community,” says Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “We are seeing positive growth and a variety of new housing opportunities.”

The majority of the Town’s building activity was residential, with 104 house permits issued last year. Multiple family residences including townhouses, condos and apartments also increased over 2017. Notable projects contributing to these high numbers include the Westlinks development, Northport Estates, and Devonshire Road which includes multi-unit 4-story apartment buildings.

“This growth increases our tax base which in turn helps us keep property taxes low,” continued Mayor Charbonneau. “According to the 2018 BMA Municipal Study, Saugeen Shores taxes are ranked as some of the lowest in Ontario, and we can thank our strong growth for that.”

Based on building inquires, the Town anticipates that 2019 will be another strong year for construction and growth in Saugeen Shores.
