Call for Artists – Celebrate Creativity in Saugeen Shores!
The Town of Saugeen Shores is seeking talented artists to bring bold, inspiring public art to our community! Two exciting opportunities are available to showcase your work in the heart of Port Elgin and Southampton — where creativity meets community pride.
Project #1: Downtown Port Elgin Mural
Bring your vision to life on a large-scale mural that transforms a local business into a vibrant community attraction!
- Size: 12 ft high x 12 ft wide
- Location: Prominent local business property in downtown Port Elgin
- Submission: Proposal with design fees, examples of work and proposed concepts
- Collaboration: Business owner, artistic expression within project guidelines
Project #2: Traffic Control Box Art
Add colour and creativity to our streetscapes—turn everyday infrastructure into unexpected moments of joy and reflection.
- Scope: Nine (9) traffic control boxes in downtown Port Elgin and downtown Southampton
- Dimensions: TBD
- Submission: Proposal with design fees, examples of work and proposed concepts
- Creative Freedom: Open artistic expression within project guidelines
Project Guidelines
Your artwork should:
- Complement and enhance its surroundings
- Reflect the unique character, environment, and community spirit of Saugeen Shores
Considerations:
- Black and dark colours are discouraged (especially for Project #2).
- Artwork must be suitable for public display—sexually explicit, violent, or derogatory imagery will not be accepted.
- The Town of Saugeen Shores reserves final curatorial discretion.
Important Details
All submissions will be reviewed, and artists will be chosen based on best aligned representation of community values.
