Lamont Sports Park
The Lamont Sports Park is a multi-field recreational facility located on Concession 6, south of Port Elgin in the Town of Saugeen Shores. The project evolved from the Town's 2016 Recreation Master Plan, which showed the community's growth levels would require more recreational facilities, including more ball diamonds.
The Town of Saugeen Shores purchased land for the purposes of an outdoor sports facility and for use as employment lands. The property is a former aggregate extraction pit.
Phase One consists of four baseball diamonds and a pavilion. It officially opens on June 24, 2023.
Phase Two will consist of:
- Two (2) ball diamonds (one hardball and one softball)
- Two (2) washroom units (one at Phase 1 location, one at Phase 2)
- Accessible playground
- Park signage and infrastructure
- Associated costs such as site preparation, grading, irrigation, water services, paving, electrical, landscaping etc.
Construction on Phase Two begins in the Spring of 2023.
