Lamont Sports Park Donations
Public Fundraising for Youth Ball Diamonds
After the successful build of the Lamont Sports Park's four baseball diamonds in Phase 1 (opening in 2023), the committee now needs the public's help to build two new youth diamonds.
These additional fields will meet the needs of minor baseball and fastpitch players of today… and for future generations.
The Campaign
The objective of the Phase 2 fundraising initiative is to raise funds for:
-
Diamond 5, a Minor Softball Field

The Evolution of the Lamont Sports Park |
In 2016, Saugeen Shores Council adopted a Recreation Masterplan that showed the need for 11 diamonds to meet the current demand of our community. When the community reaches 17,000 residents, the Town will need 14 diamonds. That meant in 2016, the Town was short four diamonds.
In 2018, Saugeen Shores Council approved the purchase of 150 acres at the former Lamont Quarry to transform the land into a sports park.
In 2019, Saugeen Shores won $250,000 through the Kraft Heinz Project Play. That success spearheaded community engagement with the formation of the Lamont Sports Park Committee. This group determined what the new park would look like based on the needs of the community.
In 2020, Saugeen Shores Town Council approved funding to build Phase 1 with the required infrastructure to construct four new lit diamonds. The project broke ground in 2021 with plans for a Grand Opening in the spring of 2023.
In 2021, Saugeen Shores Council approved the Phase 2 fundraising plan. This plan will help address the needs of our youth who participate in minor baseball activities which, in turn, illuminate the future possibilities of the Lamont Sports Park for years to come. |
