Take a look at how some of our local businesses are adapting and innovating during the COVID-19 pandemic:

Casual Corners and Mensch

"We at Casual Corners and Mensch, have always prided ourselves on providing the best experience for our customers. When things abruptly changed, we knew we needed to act quickly and figure out a way that we could still connect with our shoppers and provide them with the items they normally seek from us. We got innovative, jumped to our feet and decided to start doing lives and showcase items from our shops while encouraging feedback from our customers. This allowed us to connect directly and get information out quickly to our customers in a fun, light manner.

We also knew that people wanted to shop our items online and knowing the extensive time that could take for us to set that up an ecommerce site we instead were able to come up with two new Instagram accounts: @shopcasualcornerspe and @shopmenschclothing. These sites have given us the opportunity to list items and their prices as well as directly answer questions and pull orders together for our customers quickly. We also can arrange curbside pickups, local porch deliveries and shipping. We have had an incredibly positive response especially from our lives. People say they enjoy seeing our faces and connecting with us! I believe people want to connect more then ever as we continue to practice social distancing.

We have been in business for 42 years and have created so many wonderful relationships with our customers that it truly feels like chatting with family. It fills our hearts to know our customers want to connect. We are so grateful to them for their continued support in everything they've done for us. Whether it's making a purchase, sharing our posts or simply messaging us some encouraging words. All these things are what continue to fuel us to continue on. Thank you as we continue to be #SaugeenShoresStrong."

HAIR Southampton

HAIR Southampton"In our salon's attempt to navigate COVID-19 and what those restrictions look like on our business, we have elected to do delivery of product or contactless pickup at the salon. And we also now offer online gift cards. As we are a high-touch industry, we’re not able to fulfill our regular business offerings. Our guests seem to be open to the idea and we have had a number of gift cards and product sales over the past couple weeks."

Lac Boutique

Lac Boutique"At Lac Boutique we are working behind our closed doors to stay in touch with customers by adopting a more direct and personal approach through our social media with increased video content and supporting photography. We are striving to 'bring the store to the customer’, highlighting selected fashions with a focus on function and comfort. With people spending most of their time at home, we want women to feel good about how they look with current styles that are practical for our current reality. We’re also seeking to ‘keep it light’, having some fun with our presentation to help distract from the other stressful aspects of life that everyone is facing.

The response from our customers has been great!  People are engaging in Facebook and Instagram conversations with comments and questions, all of which is allowing us to inform and keep it social from an appropriate distance.

When people are ready to purchase we’re here to make the process as seamless as possible. Transactions are worked out through text, email and phone calls with free ‘local’ delivery to your door. In the past couple of weeks we’ve made drops to doorsteps from Kincardine to Collingwood. We’re also offering free shipping anywhere in Canada for purchases over $100 and in recent days have sent packages off to customers from Toronto to Calgary.

As well, we’ve adopted the philosophy that there is ‘opportunity in adversity’ with the launching of Lac Boutique’s online store. The initial online offerings will align with our current social media content while we continue to add product daily. Our full inventory will be available online for the summer months ahead."

Well In Hand

Well In Hand"With cases of COVID-19 on the rise, Well In Hand has put new procedures in place for the safety of ourselves and our customers. We are not allowing customers inside the store. Customers can instead place an order by phone or e-mail ahead of time, and pay by either credit card over the phone or e-transfer. Orders can be picked up at the front door of the store. For regular customers, we have you purchasing history on file and can look what products you may be looking for.

Our goal in implementing these procedures is to limit the amount of human interaction, and also to limit physical contact of our products. We have many customers who are immune compromised or have a higher health risk if catching COVID-19, and we would not want to sell them a product that has been touched by a previous customer.

Our customers have expressed that they are very grateful we are able to stay open. Many people in this community rely on natural health supplements and are thankful they have somewhere local to fill their orders. They believe we are an essential service, as do we. They have been respectful and understanding of the new procedures."
