In partnership with the Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership, the Town of Saugeen Shores has developed webpages with local information and resources for newcomer residents to help them navigate their new community and settle into their home in Saugeen Shores.

Heritage and History

You can find the Town of Saugeen Shores along the Lake Huron shoreline, just west of Owen Sound and north of Kincardine. Saugeen Shores includes the communities of Port Elgin and Southampton. We are one of many municipalities that make up Bruce County along Ontario's West Coast. 

Our municipality also has a rich heritage and history that we enjoy celebrating.

Arts, Culture, and Events

The Town of Saugeen Shores offers many cultural opportunities, events and activities for those of all ages. There is always something to do in our Town!

Cultural Groups

Connection is at the heart of our community in Saugeen Shores. Joining community and cultural groups is a great way to meet new friends, network, and get involved. View the list of local and surrounding area cultural groups.

Your Public Library

Public libraries are free to use, and offer lots of things to borrow, programs to attend, and services to use. Visit your public library to get a library card, borrow books, movies, and music, and find out all they have to offer. Most libraries have computers and printers, meeting rooms, and free Wi-Fi. Library websites provide access to online information and entertainment, like movies, eBooks, newspapers, magazines, as well as educational resources.

Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre

From organized sports to trail hiking and camping, to our beaches, boating and fishing, Saugeen Shores is the perfect place to explore the outdoors and find lifestyle opportunities that are right for you. We also have many parks and playgrounds for you to enjoy. 

Things to Do in Saugeen Shores

Spending time outdoors or participating in recreation opportunities is important for your mind and body. Here’s a list of our top five activities we think you should explore!

  1. Visit the beaches! Saugeen Shores is home to the beautiful beaches of Lake Huron. Head to Port Elgin Main Beach or Southampton Beach for a lovely day by the water!
  2. Enjoy the stores and restaurants downtown! Port Elgin and Southampton have a variety of stores, cafés, boutiques, and restaurants to visit all year long!
  3. Learn more about the history and culture of Saugeen Shores at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre with thrilling exhibits and activities for all ages!

  5. Take a tour of Chantry Island! The Chantry lighthouse is filled with so much history and makes for an enjoyable day trip.
