Canada Day Fireworks Awareness
As we celebrate our nation’s 156th birthday, the Town’s By-law Enforcement office wants to send out a friendly reminder about using fireworks within Saugeen Shores:
- Fireworks are permitted to be sold on Canada Day and the week following.
- Only people 18 years of age and older are allowed to purchase or sell fireworks.
- Fireworks can be set off on Canada and the day afterwards (July 2, 2022) between dusk -- approx. 9:13 pm.-- and 11:00 pm.
- Fireworks can not be set off on or near sidewalks, highways, parks, or shopping plazas.
- Firecrackers are not permitted within the Town of Saugeen Shores.
- Fireworks displays within Town limits require a permit from the Fire Chief.
- Fireworks displays can not be held within 183 metres (600 ft.) of a nursing home, hospital, home of the aged, gas or flammable substance manufacturer/retailer, church, or school.
The Town of Saugeen Shores By-law No. 53-2006 regulates the usage and sale of fireworks.
We hope that the residents and visitors of the Town of Saugeen Shores can enjoy a safe and happy Canada Day.
