Economic Development Update - December 2024
Community Toolkits and Destination Development Plan Approved
On Monday November 18, Town council approved the updated Community Toolkits for Port Elgin and Southampton, as well as the Destination Development Plan 2025 - 2030.
The Downtown Community Toolkits showcase Port Elgin and Southampton, their unique identities and opportunities that, if applied consistently, will provide a revitalization plan focused on the downtown core of each community. Priority actions to transform the downtown into a destination were developed for each community and are intended to foster leadership and creativity.
The Destination Development Plan is a focused strategy to promote the Town as a four-season destination for both visitors and residents. The Plan will specifically explore opportunities for diverse tourism programs and shoulder season assets to boost resident attraction. It will also identify community development opportunities that improve the overall experience for both visitors and residents.
The Updated Community Toolkits and Destination Development Plan can be found on the Town’s website under Town Hall, Reports, Studies, and Plans.
