Environmental Stewardship Ad Hoc Advisory Committee Appointed

The Town of Saugeen Shores now has a new committee focused on environmental stewardship. Three members of the public (Diane Huber, Nancy Noble and Taylor White) and two Councillors (Councillor Cheryl Grace and Councillor John Rich) were appointed to the Environmental Stewardship Ad Hoc Advisory Committee at the Town of Saugeen Shores Council meeting on April 12.

“This committee will help Saugeen Shores identify opportunities to become a greener community,” says Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “It is important that we do our part to protect the environment for future generations.”

The Committee has a mandate to review existing municipal environmental stewardship programs, assess their effectiveness and recommend changes where appropriate. The Committee will also develop achievable recommendations for new municipal environmental initiatives. These initiatives will help the municipality provide appropriate stewardship for the natural assets and resources in its care, and mitigate against the effects of climate change in the community. The Committee will prioritize its recommendations for implementation and present their final report to council.
