Nominations for Council, School Boards Close Aug 19th

The Town of Saugeen Shores would like to remind residents that nominations for election to Town Council and local school boards close on August 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Candidates interested in running for local offices in the 2022 Municipal Election must file a nomination with the Clerk's office.  The office will accept nominations during regular business hours at the Municipal Office located at 600 Tomlinson Drive, Port Elgin. 

Council offices for which persons may be nominated:

• Mayor (1 position)
• Deputy Mayor (1 position)
• Vice Deputy Mayor (1 position)
• Port Elgin Ward Councillor (2 positions)
• Saugeen Township Ward Councillor (2 positions)
• Southampton Ward Councillor (2 positions) 

School Board offices for which persons may be nominated:

• Bluewater District School Board Trustee (1 position)
• Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board Trustee (1 position)
• Conseil scolaire Viamonde Trustee (1 position – submit nomination papers to the City of Barrie)
• Conseil scolaire catholique Providence Trustee (1 position – submit nomination papers to the City of Sarnia)

Saugeen Shores is using vote by Internet and Telephone for the municipal election.  You can vote online from Monday October 17th at 8:30 a.m. until Monday October 24, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. 

Municipal elections are held every four years.
