Pool Closed Over March Break for Necessary Repairs

The Centennial Pool is closed to the public over the March break (Mon. Mar 13th to Sun. Mar. 19th) in order to replace the ceilings in the changerooms.  Winter program sessions will resume on Monday, March 20.

Reasons for the Timing

Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) made this decision in consultation with the Town.  Note the changerooms and pool lobby are part of Saugeen District Senior School, while the pool itself is Town property.

The reasons for the decision are:

1)     The repairs were mandatory after a health and safety inspection for BWDSB in December.

2)     The contractors for the repairs were not available before the start of the Town’s winter session (February 6).

3)     The timing was chosen so as not to disrupt either the Winter or Spring Sessions that serve hundreds of paid participants.

4)     When the decision was made to make the repairs, there were no registered participants in any potential March Break programming, save Bronze advanced aquatic programs.

We understand this is not ideal, especially for parents looking to keep their kids active over the school break.  In light of that, we encourage you and your kids to explore some of the March Break programming happening in our community:
