Public Engagement for Parks Master Planning
The Town of Saugeen Shores is in the early stages of the Park Master Plan preparation for three (3) parks in both Southampton & Port Elgin:
- Jubilee Park – 50 Victoria St South, Southampton
- Helliwell Park – 98 Grenville St , Southampton
- North Shore Park - 800 Stevens St, Port Elgin
Purpose
The purpose of preparing these Master Plans is to:
- guide the Town’s multi-year plan for park investment, and
- ensure the parks' proposed facilities and services are relevant to the community's current and future vision for these spaces.
Considerations
Some of the questions that should be considered during this engagement are:
- What are the future trends, desires and needs for these parks?
- What existing elements/facilities of these parks does the community value?
- What proposed elements/facilities would the community like to see in these parks?
- What are the priority items for improvement/redevelopment?
- How does the community feel about the current and future development of park infrastructure?
Engaging with community members is a crucial aspect of effective master planning. This engagement ensures that the depicted plans accurately mirror the preferences and principles of the community.

The Town will host two (2) Public Information Centres where the public can review the proposed improvements of each of these three (3) park master plans as well as provide feedback.
