Saugeen Shores 25th Anniversary Student Artwork Exhibit Now Open
Yesterday, the Town officially opened the 25th Anniversary Student Artwork Exhibit at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre. The exhibit, titled “The Spirit of Living in Saugeen Shores” will be available for in-person viewing until September 2, 2024 or digitally through the Town’s 25th Anniversary webpage.
“Town Council would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all Saugeen Shores students who, through their individual creativity, portrayed the spirit of living in our community in their artwork,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau.
The call for submissions went out earlier this year, with the Town inviting local (Port Elgin and Southampton) students in grades 5 and 10 to participate by submitting artwork that celebrated the spirit of living in Saugeen Shores. Submissions were received from St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Port Elgin, Ms. Angie Wilke’s grade 5/6 class and have been photographed to be digitally stored in the community time capsule.
The Town of Saugeen Shores, with support from the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce, sponsored this time capsule project to capture local memories, photographs, and items commemorating the last 25 years since the amalgamation of Saugeen Township with the towns of Port Elgin and Southampton. This endeavor was made possible by the generous donation of the locally crafted time capsule by Mayor Luke Charbonneau and family.
