Saugeen Shores Kicks Off Pride Month
The Town of Saugeen Shores hosted its annual Progress Pride flag raising ceremony at the Municipal Office today to kick off the celebration of Pride Month.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau raised the flag this afternoon at a ceremony outside the Town’s Municipal Office, alongside Saugeen Shores Fire Chief Ed Melanson, Saugeen Shores Police Sergeant Chantel Primeau, and Grey Bruce Pride spokesperson Rachel Paterson. Town staff and community members were also in attendance alongside representatives from Bruce County, the Nuclear Innovation Institute, and the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce.
“As our community continues to grow, it is important to recognize and celebrate its growth in diversity,” said Charbonneau. “I am proud of the steps Council have taken over the years to reflect that Saugeen Shores is a welcoming community to all, no matter who you love.”
The Town is also providing “Saugeen Shores Supports” window decals again to local establishments who agree to uphold the values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. These decals are part of the Town’s Rainbow Registered accreditation program designated by Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC).
Business owners can request a decal through our website on a first-come, first-serve basis (unfortunately they are not available for private citizens).
