Town Gathering Public Input for Strategic Plan
The Town is engaging the public as it looks to refresh its Strategic Plan for this Council term. Starting this weekend, the municipality is providing access to both in-person and online surveys.
Two in-person pop-ups will appear on-site at community events asking for public input:
- Fri. Aug. 25th, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Southampton Coliseum – Marine Heritage Artisans Market
- Sat. Aug. 26th, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Port Elgin Harbour – FireFit Championship
There is also an online survey available that residents and stakeholders can fill out.
The Strategic Plan is a broad document that outlines the Town’s vision, mission and values, as well as its long-term priorities. The plan is revised to reflect each new Council’s priorities; it is an important step for ongoing democratic renewal.
“This document sets benchmarks for the Town’s work over several years,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “It allows the organization to work towards common goals and provides another way for the Town to show accountability to community members and stakeholders.”
The Town is working with a consultant to gather the public input into a draft plan. Council will then vote on whether to approve and/or amend that plan.
The online survey is open until September 15th. For more information, go to https://www.saugeenshores.ca/strategicplan/
This project is a Major Initiative for the Office of the CAO, as set out in the 2023 Business Plan (p. 11) and approved by Council.
