Beach Ambassador Program
By-Law Enforcement officers and special constables are walking the beaches to provide education and enforcement of Park By-Laws and Beach Regulations.
Officers will regulate various rules surrounding dogs, barbecues, fires, tents, and alcohol consumption. They will answer any questions the public may have surrounding Town By-laws and the Beaches.
The By-Law Enforcement Department wants the public to keep in mind some important regulations when enjoying our many Beaches this summer:
Barbeques & Fires
While it is nice to have a barbequed meal on a hot summer day, barbeques and fires are not permitted on any beaches within the Town of Saugeen Shores.
Instead, please try one of the local beachfront restaurants or head into town for more options!
Organized Gatherings and Picnics
Planning a big event or a family gathering on the beach or park?
If your event or gathering is for more than 25 people, please make sure you first contact the Town of Saugeen Shores for a permit/permission.
Tents
The beach can certainly get hot in the summer, and it is important to have shade cover at times.
By-law Enforcement wants to remind the public that tents, and structures are not permitted on Town Beaches or Parks. However, you should consider umbrellas and sunshades to keep your skin safe from the UV rays.
Dogs
By-law Enforcement understands that dogs and other animals are important companions. We love dogs too! While we may want them to join the fun while at the beach or park, dogs and other animals are not permitted in Town beaches or parks unless the are designated service animals.
Note: There is a designated dog park at 961 Lehnen St in Port Elgin for your dogs to enjoy.
Alcohol
The Town wants to make sure everyone enjoying the beaches and parks are safe. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on any Town beaches or parks. Please be mindful and respectful of those also trying to enjoy these Town amenities and leave the alcoholic beverages at home.
We hope that the public can get out and enjoy the many Town Beaches and Parks this summer. By-Law Enforcement is here to promote awareness and enforcement to encourage waterfront education and etiquette.
Please feel free to contact our By-law Enforcement Officer by email or by phone 519-832-2008 ext. 138 for any questions or concerns regarding any Town By-law Regulations.
