Committee Recruitment
The Town is recruiting two (2) new members for the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee. It is also creating a list of people who are interested in serving on Committees.
Current vacancies
The Town of Saugeen Shores is looking for two (2) new members to join the Heritage Advisory Committee. This is an active committee that is responsible for advising Council on matters regarding the conservation and recognition of buildings and property of historic or architectural value in accordance with the Ontario Heritage Act. The Committee also recognizes individuals who have contributed to the preservation and promotion of heritage in Saugeen Shores.
The Town also has an open application for people interested in serving on ad hoc committees. These are groups that may form from time-to-time on various topics of interest to the municipality and would serve for a limited time.
These topics may include:
- Communication & Engagement
- Development & Planning
- Economic Development
- Engineering/Design
- Finance
- Parks & Trails
- Waterfront
- Recreation
- Strategic Initiatives
- Emergency Management
- Environmental
The Town will create a mandate for these ad hoc committees if/when they are formed.
How to apply
To apply for membership on the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee, please complete the online Heritage Committee Application Form.
To apply for membership on a future ad hoc Committee, please complete the online Committee Application Form.
Paper copies of the Committee Application Form are available at the Municipal Office.
These applications will be kept on file for the current term of Council.
Eligibility
The Town takes the following into consideration when selecting Committee members:
- Citizen of Saugeen Shores
- Availability to attend meetings
- Related expertise or knowledge in the subject matter
- Previous experience on other boards and committees
Selection process
The Striking Committee is currently recruiting two (2) new members for the Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee. Applications are due by January 2, 2024. Applicants selected will be contacted by the Clerk's Division to let them know their application will be considered by Council at an up coming meeting. Once Council has made the appointment, the remaining applicants will be notified.
Committees are formed on an as-needed basis. When the need arises, Council will create a Terms of Reference for a Committee. The Terms of Reference will determine the purpose of the committee, tasks to be completed and among other things will determine the number of members to serve on the committee. Committee members will be appointed based on the eligibility criteria.
