The Home and Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce help support independence and enhance the quality of life for seniors, adults and their families. Their services help promote personal responsibility toward a healthy existence.

Seniors recreation and leisure

Port Adult Recreation Centre (PARC 55+)

PARC 55+ organizes social and leisure activities and events for adults over 55. There is a nominal annual membership fee. They offer programs like:

  • Potluck luncheons
  • Games, including contract bridge, duplicate bridge and cribbage
  • Line dancing
  • Table tennis
  • Monthly book club

Chantry Seniors Centre

The Chantry Seniors Centre organizes social and recreational activities and events for adults over 55. There is a nominal annual membership fee. They offer services like:

  • Luncheons and potlucks
  • Speakers and day trips
  • Games, including bridge, euchre, shuffle board, billiards
  • Line dancing and square dancing
  • Arts and crafts

The facility is also available for rentals.

Group Exercise Classes

The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) provides SMART® seniors exercise classes in Port Elgin and Southampton. SMART® program coordinators are Jill Thurston, David Schembri and Maria Kuntz. Class times vary by location. Pre-registration is required.
