Boards and Committees

Committees, boards, and organizations provide valuable input on the development of projects, policies and initiatives in the Town of Saugeen Shores. Volunteers contribute their time, energy and expertise to help improve our community and quality of life.

The application pool for the 2026-2028 Committee term is open until November 15, 2026, for anyone interested in serving on committees. Please visit the Committee Application Form or contact the Municipal Office to submit an application.

Committees of Council

Accessibility Advisory Committee

The role of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to guide Council on matters related to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the Saugeen Shores Accessibility Plan.

The Committee supports the identification, removal and prevention of barriers in a consistent manner in Saugeen Shores.

Airport Advisory Committee

The role of the Airport Advisory Committee is to provide direction for the management, maintenance, operation and promotion of the Port Elgin Airport.

This Committee shall consist of four (4) volunteer members, plus one (1) Council member. An alternate member of Council shall also be appointed to fill a vacancy of the Council Representative.

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body appointed by Council under the Planning Act to make decisions on the following planning applications:

Minor variances that request minor site-specific amendments to the Zoning By-law; and
Sign variances that request minor site-specific amendments to the Sign By-law.

Meetings

The Committee of Adjustment meets on the third Monday of the month at the Municipal Office (600 Tomlinson Drive, Port Elgin), as required. If Monday is a holiday, the meeting is held on Tuesday. Find upcoming meetings in our calendar of meetings.

Ad Hoc Committees

The Town also has an open application for people interested in serving on ad hoc committees. These are limited-time committees formed on various topics of interest to the municipality.

These topics may include:

The Town creates a mandate if/when it forms these ad hoc committees.
