Saugeen Shores Heritage Property Plaque Program

The Saugeen Shores Heritage Property Plaque Program Policy identifies architecturally historic properties that are at least 100 years old and significant to the community's heritage. Historic properties may not be designated under the Ontario Heritage Act or be protected by the Province. Despite this, historic homes submitted by property owners remain significant and have received a plaque to describe each historic building's year of construction, the name of the original owner, and the original owner’s occupation at the time of construction.

The Municipal Heritage Committee runs this plaque program. To apply for a Heritage Property Plaque, and be added to the following list, please complete the application form found in the above policy.

Listed below include historic properties of Saugeen Shores.

The Town has created a Heritage Categories Chart to provide guidance to property owners on the classifications.

Saugeen Shores Heritage Interpretive Plaques

The Municipal Heritage Committee, in collaboration with volunteers and the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, research and design interpretive plaques for various locations throughout Saugeen Shores to commemorate its history.

Check out our Interpretive Plaque Photos or Interactive Map to learn more.
