The Town of Saugeen Shores extends its congratulations to Sonya Roote on her election as Chief of Saugeen First Nation and to the incoming Council: Randall Kahgee, Warren H. John, Lester Anoquot, Anthony N. W. Owl, Dwayne A. Nashkawa, Conrad Ritchie, Letitia Thompson, Fay Roote, and Trudy Jacobs.

Grey Bruce Public Health is advising the public that test results from water samples taken Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, at Port Elgin Main Beach and Southampton Beach show E.coli bacterial levels have returned to within the guidelines established by Ontario’s Ministry of Health as safe for swimming/bathing.

The Council of the Town of Saugeen Shores intends to designate the following property for reasons of cultural heritage value or interest pursuant to the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter O.18, Part IV: 160 Leeder Lane, Southampton, further described as PLAN 37 PT LOT 3 TP PT LOT 5; S HIGH, Saugeen Shores (Southampton Town).

Town of Saugeen Shores representatives are returning from Ottawa following productive meetings with Provincial and Federal officials while attending the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference from August 16-19.
