We operate and maintain five cemeteries in Saugeen Shores. We preserve the rich, historical significance of these heritage properties, which date back to 1851.

Locations

The Town owns and maintains the following five cemeteries:

  • Burgoyne Cemetery - 4895 Bruce Road 3, Saugeen Shores, ON N0H 2C0
  • Pioneer Cemetery - 46 Cemetery Road, Southampton, ON N0H 2L0
  • Sanctuary Park Cemetery - 837 Eastwood Drive, Port Elgin, ON N0H 2C4
  • Southampton Cemetery - 445 Carlisle Street, Southampton, ON N0H 2L0
  • St. Patrick's Cemetery - 42 Cemetery Road, Southampton, ON N0H 2L0
Hours of Operation

All cemeteries are open to the public from 8:00 a.m. until dusk, daily.

Burials take place Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

No interment shall be made on Saturday past noon, holidays past noon, or on Sundays, except by the order of the Medical Officer of Health.

Visiting Regulations and Etiquette

We ask our visitors to respect the dignity and integrity of the cemeteries, and the rights of other visitors, by following these regulations:

  • All artificial flowers, potted plants, flower stands and ornamental objects must be removed by October 15 each year (with the exception of saddle arrangements).
  • Pets must be on a leash at all times.
  • Visitors shall not disturb the quiet by creating noise or acting inappropriately.
  • The speed limit within the cemeteries is 10 km/hr.
  • Burial vaults are mandatory for traditional and cremation interments.
  • Artificial flowers must be placed in a metal or plastic container, or they will be removed.
  • No glass containers are allowed at the grave site.
