There are many health care services in Saugeen Shores to support you and your loved ones. 

Looking For a Doctor? 

If you do not currently have a family doctor, you can register with Ontario’s Health Care Connect Program (or by calling 1-800-455-1822, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). This service helps connect orphaned patients to doctors or nurse practitioners in their area. Please note that the Town of Saugeen Shores is NOT involved in the patient selection process.

Hospital Services 

The Brightshores Health System operates Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton. For more information, visit the Brightshores website.

Saugeen Shores operates three medical buildings with doctors and nurse practitioners serving patients in the municipality. 

Dr. Earl Health Centre (Port Elgin) 

This medical practice is located on Ontario Highway 21 (Goderich Street) in Port Elgin. It is home to six doctors. 

 

Saugeen Shores Medical Building (Southampton) 

This medical practice is located next door to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital. It is home to five doctors.

VON Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic (Port Elgin) 

The VON Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic (NPLC) is located on Gustavus Street in Port Elgin. It is home to four nurse practitioners. 

 

The NPLC serves Saugeen Shores residents who don't have a primary care provider. These residents can register through Health Care Connect to become a permanent patient of a nurse practitioner (up to the clinic's maximum capacity). Same-day, urgent services are also available for residents without a primary care provider.

Independent Medical Practices 

There are also doctors in Saugeen Shores who operate their own practices from privately owned facilities.

Port Elgin:  (Bruce County Outreach – including a number of service providers ) Every 3rd Thursday of the Month, Noon-2 p.m., Living Hope Centre, 515 Goderich Street.

Wes for Youth Online 

Wes for Youth (Wellness & Emotional Support) is an area e-counselling service which allows youth to connect with a professional and qualified counsellor by self-referral, to explore the issues being faced in a secure and virtual environment.
