Mowbray’s Canadian Tire Donates $50,000 to Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre

The Town of Saugeen Shores is proud to announce a generous $50,000 contribution from Mike and Eleanor Mowbray of Canadian Tire Port Elgin in support of the new Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre (AWC). This donation will be recognized through the sponsorship of the gymnasium scoreboards.

“Our family and Canadian Tire are proud to support the Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre and contribute to the vibrant future of Saugeen Shores,” said Mike Mowbray. “Having owned the Port Elgin store for the past 20 years - and continuing a family tradition that included my parents, this naming opportunity for the gymnasium scoreboards reflects our family’s shared commitment with the Town to promoting inclusive, healthy and participative lifestyles in the community we’ve all been so proud to call home.”

Mike and Eleanor Mowbray purchased the Port Elgin Canadian Tire in 2006, moving the store to its current location in 2012. Their family has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to the community. From supporting minor sports and high school programs to contributing to local fundraisers and running the Jumpstart program, the Mowbrays are widely recognized for their generosity and community spirit.

“We are incredibly grateful for the Mowbray family’s continued support and investment in our community," said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. " Their donation to the Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre reflects the strong spirit of partnership that helps make Saugeen Shores the best place to live.”

This donation marks a step closer to the Town’s $3 million fundraising goal for the facility. As the facility nears completion, the Town has entered final wave of fundraising: The Drive for Five. This final push aims to secure the last $500,000 needed to meet fundraising goals and support this legacy project.

Naming opportunities within the Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre, as well as other recognition options, are currently available for businesses eager to support this facility. By participating in this final wave of fundraising, organizations have the chance to make a lasting impact on the community while gaining meaningful visibility within the Centre for years to come.

The public also has an opportunity to leave a lasting impression through the Commemorative Brick Campaign. These personalized bricks will be displayed at the facility, offering a unique way to honour someone special, celebrate a special occasion or give a meaningful gift.
