Rules and Etiquette

With breathtaking sunsets and miles of sandy beaches, Saugeen Shores is the ideal area to pitch a tent or park your home on wheels.  We operate two seasonal trailer campgrounds in Port Elgin and Southampton, open from May 1 to October 31. Both offer full-service sites for overnight, short-term, and seasonal stays, just steps from beaches and downtown.

Port Elgin Tourist Camp is located at 584 Bruce Street, Port Elgin 

Southampton Tourist Camp is located at 277 Lake Street, Southampton

Tourist Camp Office Hours of Operation 

 

Off season: Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. 

Spring and Fall: Monday to Sunday from 8am to 4pm. 

Summer: Monday to Sunday from 8am to 7pm.

  • 30 Amp Electricity 

  • Municipal water and sewer connections at each site 

  • Dump station (Port Elgin site) 

  • Firewood available for purchase

Looking to Sell your trailer? Here is information on how to do so. Visit Trailers for Sale to learn more about purchasing a trailer at one of our two Tourist Parks. 

1. Contact the Camp Supervisors by email or by phone at 519-832-2008 ext 154 

2. Set up a meeting at your site to discuss the listing, including: 

  • Age of the trailer

  • Features or additional amenities included with the sale 

  • Any outstanding site issues 

  • Provide a copy of ownership 

  • Receive approval to sell 

3. Once approved, complete the trailer for sale form 

4. Attach up to 10 photos of your trailer when completing the form 

5. Post for sale sign in an approved location at your site 

6. Staff prepare and post trailer listing on the municipal website and at the camp offices 

7. Trailer owners are responsible for coordinating all viewings and completing the sale 

8. Once the sale is complete: 

  • Notify Camp Supervisors and provide a copy of the bill of sale 

  • Staff will coordinate payment for the 5% sale commission payable to the Town 

  • Once payment is received the contract will be transferred to the new owners 

  • Camp Supervisors will meet with new owners
