Dog-friendly Beaches

Does your dog love the beach as much as you do? Saugeen Shores has designated dog-friendly beach areas where your leashed dog can relax on the sand and enjoy an off-leash swim. 

When and Where Dogs Are Welcome 

Saugeen River mouth to High Street flagpole, Southampton
Dogs permitted 6:00 p.m.–9:00 a.m. 

538 Izzard Rd. to Concession 6/Bruce Rd. 25, Port Elgin
Dogs permitted 6:00 p.m.–9:00 a.m. 

North end of Eckford Ave. to Saugeen River mouth, Southampton
Dogs permitted at all times (24/7) all year long

28 Miramichi Bay Rd. to Elgin St. beach access, Port Elgin
Dogs permitted at all times (24/7) all year long

From November 1 to April 30, dogs are permitted on all Saugeen Shores beaches at any time of day while leashed.  Please see important reminders below.

Dogs MUST remain on a leash when not swimming. 

Pet owners are required to “poop and scoop”and dispose properly.

Cooperation is regularly monitored by Town By-law and Police Officers.
