WaterWheels Accessible Wheelchair Rentals

Explore two of our waterfronts with ease using WaterWheels, free-floating wheelchairs available for both adults and children. These three-wheeled chairs make getting to and into the water simple and fun.

Available at two Saugeen Shores locations: 

Port Elgin: Book online and pick up at the Harbour Office 

Southampton: Book online and pick up at 1 Beach Road (Long Dock parking area) 

Daily summer rentals run from July to Labour Day, with two time slots. You can also book one or both periods, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. - 5p.m.

Accessible Mobi-Mats, parking, beach access and washrooms are available at both sites. 

Renter Responsibilities 

Assess your participant's/user's ability to swim; non-swimmers must provide and use a lifejacket. 

Do not the Beach Wheelchair without support person or in unsafe weather or water conditions. 

Do not take the Beach Wheelchair to another location. Can be used along the Southampton beach waterfront.  

Port Elgin: Clean chair by sweeping sand off (using broom provided) and spray down if needed (using tap and hose located outside the storage site). Wipe off any excess moisture (using paper towels provided). This is to be outside before putting the chair in the storage site.  

Southampton: Clean chair by sweeping sand off (using broom provided) and wiping down with sanitizer wipes provided.
