Adult Beginner Hockey Programs |
||||
Our Adult Beginner Hockey programs are underway. Programs are open for registration online. Programming takes place Sundays at the Southampton Coliseum. Adult Agility Skating Sessions: Winter 2025Looking to build on your basic skating skills? This 30-minute agility skating skills session is led by Bill Buckton, and will help folks become stronger, more confident skaters. Improve your skills, and learn to stop, skate backward, crossover and increase speed. The session is planned before Adult Beginner Hockey for individuals looking to improve skating, and to build on their hockey basics. Folks can participate in both programs or choose to participate in one or the other.
Adult Beginner Pick-Up Hockey (Shinny): Fall and WinterThis pick-up shinny hockey program is for adults who are at the beginner level of playing. Register online in advance (until 4pm the Friday before), or pay at the door when you arrive. Do you have the basic skills to play organized hockey and would like to further your skills to improve your game? This is a great next step for those that have participated in our adult beginner hockey programs with Bill Buckton. This drop-in program provides the opportunity to get on the ice with others of the same basic skill level. There is no formal instruction. Co-ed for ages 16 years and older. Pick-Up Dates
Adult Beginner Hockey 101: Winter 2025Interested in hockey but never had the opportunity to learn the game? Do your kids play, and you'd like to know how to play too? Considering coaching but would like a better understanding of the fundamentals? This program is for adults with basic skating skills and no or limited hockey experience. The program is delivered by Bill Buckton, along with guest instructors. Participants will learn the fundamentals of hockey and focus on skill development over the 4-week session.
Adult Beginner Hockey 102: Winter 2025If you’ve learned the basics and are feeling confident in the hockey fundamentals, 102 is for you! This program builds on the skills learned in the fall 2024 adult beginner hockey session (or if you participated in other adult beginner hockey sessions). Local hockey coach Bill Buckton along will guest instructors will deliver this program designed for adults who have learned the basic hockey skills and want to continue building on those skills. Participants will build on the hockey basics over the 4-week session.

Programs and Events Photo Consent |
Participants can consent or not consent when registering for programs and events online. I am a consenting adult/legal guardian and hereby authorize the Town of Saugeen Shores to use my and or my dependent(s) name and or image in its public relations and communication materials. I understand that the photograph(s) taken within a year from today’s date during Town programs, events or in Town facilities may be used in a publication, print advertisement, direct-mail pieces, electronic media (e.g., video, website, social media, etc.) or other form of communication. In giving my consent, I hereby release and hold harmless the Town of Saugeen Shores and their agents, employees, officials, representatives and contractors from any and all responsibility or liability for damage of any kind suffered in any manner whatsoever. I hereby relinquish any and all personal or proprietary rights I may have in connection with such use. I understand that I will receive no compensation should any photograph of me and or my dependents be used. |
Refund Policy |
The refund policy applies to dryland and aquatic programs operated by the Department of Community Services (Town-operated) and operated by program providers under contract with the Department of Community Services (Town-contracted). If an exception to this policy applies, it will be indicated at the time of registration.

Recreation Waiver |
Participants are required to agree to the recreation waiver at the time of registration. In consideration of Myself, Son, Daughter or Ward being admitted into the programs operated by any department falling under the auspices of the Department of Community Services, I hereby release the Corporation of the Town of Saugeen Shores from all claims for damages incurred from any accident or injury which is caused by or arises from participation of the applicant herein, during any program, or in any facility on any location, where a program is being conducted. I hereby give permission for the person in charge, to enact the municipal emergency action procedure, including activating the community emergency system, in the event of an accident involving the above-mentioned participant. |
