Boards and Committees
Committees, boards and organizations provide valuable input on the development of projects, policies and initiatives in the Town of Saugeen Shores. Volunteers contribute their time, energy and expertise to help improve our community and quality of life.
Applications have closed for the 2025-2026 Committee term. Thank you to everyone who submitted an application. The Clerk's Division will reach out shortly to advise on next steps.
The application pool for ad hoc Committees will re-open shortly and remain open for anyone interested in serving on these limited-time, as needed, committees.

Committees of Council
Accessibility Advisory Committee |

The role of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to guide Council on matters related to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the Saugeen Shores Accessibility Plan. The Committee supports the identification, removal and prevention of barriers in a consistent manner in Saugeen Shores. View the Committee's Mandate. Committee Members

Airport Committee |

The role of the Airport Committee is to provide direction for the management, maintenance, operation and promotion of the Port Elgin Airport. The Airport Committee shall consist of four (4) volunteer members, plus one (1) Council Member. An alternate member of Council shall also be appointed to fill a vacancy of the Council Representative. Committee of Adjustment |

The Town of Saugeen Shores' Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body appointed by Council under the Planning Act to make decisions on the following planning applications:

MeetingsThe Committee of Adjustment meets on the third Monday of the month at the Town of Saugeen Shores Municipal Office (600 Tomlinson Drive, Port Elgin), as required. Community Emergency Management Program Committee |

The role of the Community Emergency Management Program Committee is to advise Council on the development and implementation of the Town of Saugeen Shores' Emergency Management Program. The Emergency Management Program supports emergency preparedness in the Town and ensures our first responders, health organizations, social services, utilities and volunteer groups are able to respond to various types of emergency situations. Council and Committee of the Whole |

The Committee of the Whole is made up of all Council members. It is designed to streamline discussions relating to Saugeen Shores municipal business. Staff put their reports on the Committee of the Whole Agenda to be discussed at the meeting. If the Committee of the Whole makes decisions on the reports presented, a recommendation is forwarded to Council at the next meeting for final approval. This separation of time between the discussion of an issue at Committee of the Whole and the final decision gives Council time to investigate the issues before a final decision is made. MeetingsTown Council and the Committee of the Whole meet on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. If a regular meeting falls on a public or civic holiday, the Council meets at the same hour on the next day that is not a public or civic holiday. An Open Forum is available at the start of the Committee of the Whole for anyone wishing to speak to an item on the agenda during the 15 minutes before the meeting. Ad Hoc Committees
The Town also has an open application for people interested in serving on ad hoc committees. These are limited-time committees formed on various topics of interest to the municipality.
These topics may include:
