Firework Regulations in Saugeen Shores
The Town of Saugeen Shores regulates the sale and use of fireworks under Fireworks By-law 105-2023.
Fireworks Displays
If you plan to hold a fireworks display in a public place, you must obtain a permit from the Fire Chief.
Permit holders are only allowed to discharge or display fireworks at the date, time and location specified in their permit.
According to the by-law, fireworks may only be discharged on the following days:
- Victoria Day and Canada Day
- The day before and day after Victoria Day and Canada Day
- American Independence Day (July 4)
- The day before and day after American Independence Day
- The first day of Eid al-Fitr
- Chinese New Year’s Day
- Labour Day
Fireworks may not be set off:
- On the travelled portion of any public road or highway
- On sidewalks
- In public parks
- Fireworks are only permitted to be discharged between dusk and 11:00 p.m.

Sale of Fireworks
Fireworks may only be sold in Saugeen Shores during the seven days leading up to the following holidays:
- Victoria Day
- Canada Day
- Civic Holiday
- Labour Day
- American Independence Day (July 4)
You may not sell fireworks to anyone under the age of 18.
