A Commissioner of Oaths is available at the Municipal Office during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am. to 4:30 p.m.). The Commissioner can witness signatures of certain documents. Please make an appointment to ensure a staff member is available to assist you.

 Requirements

  • Please check your document to determine what type of signature is required. Some documents may require a Notary Public signature rather than a Commissioner of Oaths.
  • All parties required to sign the document must be present.
  • Please be prepared to provide two pieces of photo identification.
  • The Commissioner of Oaths reserves the right to refuse to commission any document.
  • Documents not in English will not be commissioned as we cannot confirm the information being affirmed.

Fees

The Commissioner of Oaths service fee is $22.96 (including HST) per document. Payment can be made using cash, debit or cheque.

Notary Public

Some documents require a Notary Public signature rather than a Commissioner of Oaths. The Municipal Office does not have a Notary Public on staff. When a Notary Public is required, you will have to contact a lawyer.
