Livestock Claims

The Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program provides financial assistance to producers whose livestock, poultry and honey bees have been harmed by wildlife. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs administers the program.

Processing Claims

We process wildlife damage claims, which are completed in a three-step process:

1. The producer whose livestock is damaged contacts us and a livestock valuer is sent to the site.
2. The livestock valuer must inspect within 72 hours of being notified. The investigator sends a completed Program Application, including at least three photos and any supporting documents to the Clerk's Department.
3. The Clerk's Department must receive the completed Program Application and submit to the ministry within seven business days.
4. The owner will be compensated based on approval by the ministry.
