Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) Waste Program 

Saugeen Shores participates in the "Pay As You Throw" (PAYT) waste management program. All curbside garbage collection requires residents to use bag tags.

Bag tag requirements

• Bag tags are $2 each and can be purchased at locations throughout Port Elgin and Southampton. 
• If you are placing garbage bags, kitchen catcher bags, or shopping bags at the curbside, you must place a bag tag on the top of each garbage bag. Each garbage bag, whether it is a full or half full bag, must have a bag tag on it.
• If you are using a container to hold your garbage bags it must not exceed 25lbs. The top garbage bag in the container must have a bag tag on it.
• Large loose garbage outside of containers or bags will not be collected

Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling will not collect garbage that is incorrectly stored, placed, tagged or does not meet weight requirements.
