Development Charges

What are Development Charges? 

Development charges are fees collected from new construction projects. They help pay for the roads, services, and infrastructure needed as our community grows. Funds from these charges have also had a hand in financing Saugeen Shores’ new Aquatic and Wellness Centre. 

When more people move in, there are more cars on the roads and a higher demand for town services. Development charges make sure the cost of these upgrades is covered by new development, not by raising taxes on existing residents. 

These charges are due when a building permit is issued.
