Closures and Disruptions

Grey Bruce Public Health is advising the public that test results from water samples taken Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, at Port Elgin Main Beach and Southampton Beach show E.coli bacterial levels have returned to within the guidelines established by Ontario’s Ministry of Health as safe for swimming/bathing.

The swim advisory for Port Elgin Main Beach and Southampton Beach was lifted on August 21, 2026.

Grey Bruce Public Health, in consultation with the Town of Saugeen Shores, has posted Port Elgin Main Beach and Southampton Beach as unsafe for swimming after water-sampling results showed bacterial levels exceeding Ontario Ministry of Health standards.

The Town of Saugeen Shores Municipal Office will be temporarily closed for a staff event Wednesday, August 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

A section of Concession 10 between Hwy 21 and Waterloo Street will be closed Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from August 4 to August 31, 2026. Please use Waterloo St as a detour during work hours.

Please note the following municipal facilities will be closed on the Civic Holiday, Monday, August 3:

• Municipal Office
• The Plex
• Pryde Aquatic & Wellness Centre
• Southampton Landfill
