Local Hotel Donates $50,000 Aquatic and Wellness Centre

The Town of Saugeen Shores is pleased to recognize and thank Summerside Hospitality Group, owner of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites and Staybridge Suites Port Elgin, for their generous $50,000 donation in support of the new Aquatic and Wellness Centre (AWC). 

“We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation from Summerside Hospitality Group,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “This investment in our community reflects the spirit of partnership and a shared commitment to enhancing recreation and quality of life in Saugeen Shores.”  

“The Aquatic and Wellness Centre is a fantastic addition to the already excellent recreational facilities in Saugeen Shores,” said Trevor Raynsford, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Port Elgin. “Our hotels are always pleased to host visitors who travel here for sports tourism, and we look forward to welcoming swimmers and their families as they come to compete at this exciting new venue. The AWC is designed to be a regional hub for recreation and wellness, offering an 8-lane competition pool, leisure pool, fitness centre, walking track, gymnasium, and multi-purpose program rooms to serve people of all ages and abilities. Construction of the Aquatic and Wellness Centre is a Major Initiative for the Town’s Community Services department, as outlined in the Saugeen Shores 2025 Business Plan.
