Notice of Future Construction: High Street Reconstruction - Phase 2
Project Overview
Phase 2 of the High Street Reconstruction Project focuses on improving infrastructure and enhancing the streetscape between Grosvenor Street and the Flag. This phase includes essential road and stormwater infrastructure upgrades, aesthetic improvements such as interlocked brickwork and street furniture, and tree planting to create a welcoming and functional public space.
This project includes:
- Road Reconstruction (Huron St. S. to Flag): Full road reconstruction and replacement of the stormwater network with increased capacity.
- Stormwater Treatment (Huron St. S. to Flag): Installation of a treatment unit at the downstream end to improve water quality prior to discharge.
- Curb Extensions at Huron Intersection:
- Interlocked brickwork and street furniture at NW and SW corners (Coordinated with Cenotaph Memorial design)
- Drop-Off Area at the Flag: Interlocked brickwork installation.
- Tree Planting: Between Grosvenor Street and the Flag
- Boulevards: Grass boulevards will remain; disturbed areas will be restored with topsoil and sod.
Project Timeline
Construction will be completed by MacDonnell Excavating.
- Work is expected to begin in mid-April, weather permitting.
- Working Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Traffic & Parking Impacts
- High Street from Huron St. S. to Dominion Point will be closed to through traffic. Access for residents with properties within the work zone will be maintained wherever possible. If access to any property is temporarily disrupted, the Contractor and the Town will work directly with affected residents to provide suitable alternative arrangements.
- Access for Emergency Services will remain.
- Emergency detours may be implemented as needed.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction.
- The public is encouraged to use side street parking and municipal parking lots.
Service Interruptions
- No service interruptions are expected for the duration of the project.
- In the event planned service interruptions are required, residents will be notified in advance.
- In the event of an unplanned emergency repair, crews will work to restore service promptly.
